's Shinomiya/Iwai smutfic. Love you, hon. And guess what? It's fluff!
He feigns sleep, a tumble of silver across his face, damp with sweat and saliva. The covers are heavy and his nightshirt sticks to his skin, but he dare not move, clinging to the foremost thought in his mind: Today won’t begin if I don’t wake up.
Some shuffling, and then the soft click of a door barely closed. Iwai lays very still, pillow marks against his face, fists curled. He has always been a messy dreamer. Sometimes, he cries, or eats his hair. For now though, he’s content just to watch the glow-worms wriggling behind his eyelids.
“Koji,” he breathes suddenly. “Koji.” Then, emboldened by solitude and morning air, he adds, “I want you.” Do you want me?
A moment later, he’s laughing tearfully, turned to the side and hiccuping into the mattress – because who would?
Certainly not Shinomiya, who treats his love and confession like a drunken kiss. A mistake.
Maybe it is.
He knows Iwai can hear him, but chooses not to listen. And yet, it isn’t in his nature to be forceful. It’s his own fault that Iwai refuses to speak to him. In his panic and insecurity, he was thoughtless, and now Iwai is hurting on his account.
All those things said in haste – he wishes he could take them back. Open mouth, insert foot. Truly, he has never been an eloquent man; words drop from his lips like chunks of ice.
It’s with these thoughts in mind that he drops his tie too, accidentally backing into the door as he bends to retrieve it.
His head snaps up. Iwai is half-fallen off the bed, sprawled over the edge like a fitful child.
“I want you.” Don’t cry.
“I want you too.”
